Cooperation Between Civil Society And The Media Promotes Quality Development

A discussion program between the representatives of civil society organizations and media persons was organized in Bidur on September 17 by INSEC Nuwakot. The cooperation of civil society and media for development was discussed through the virtual medium.


Discussing the impact of development, civil society, media and coronavirus in the program, the participants said that the cooperation of civil society and media sector will help in quality development. He also stressed on the need to bring out the activities of the civil society in the media and debate on the issues raised in it.

Speaking in the program, District Chairperson of the NGO Federation, Meen Kumar KC, said that the cooperation of civil society and the media was essential for development and added that the media needed more activism for systematic and safe development.

Chairperson KC said that the media had played its role effectively despite the decline in the activities of civil society organizations during the Corona period. He said that the role of media was significant in development as it was able to raise the consciousness of the people.

Chairperson of the Federation of Nepali Journalists Kapil Dev Khanal said that the media sector of the district was working hand in hand with the civil society for development.

Chairperson Khanal said that the role of mass media was high and it would be easier to get a clear idea from the civil society on what to do to make the role of the media sector more powerful to make development activities effective.

Devaki Poudel, a member of the NGO Federation Bagmati Province Committee, said that the media has fulfilled its responsibility to spread awareness among the people even in the rise of Corona.

Speaking on the occasion, District Chairperson of Nepal Bar Association, Devraj Kandel, said that the media was playing a positive role in development, human rights and informing the citizens.

The participants had stressed on the need for the media to find out the real issues like the recent unorganized development activities in the district have led to destruction.
