Capacity Building Training for Human Rights Defender Commences
A two days training for Human Rights defender has commenced in Nepalgunj from July 11 organised by Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC) Nepalgunj.
Speaking at the training program NHRC’s regional director Murari Kharel stressed that journalists must raise the issues of civilian’s rights violation and should raise the voices on economic, social and cultural rights along with conflict victim’s situation.
INSEC mid-western regional coordinator Bhola Mahat said that Human Rights defender must be clear in differences between Human Rights violation and atrocity. He added that the role of journalists has a direct impact on civilians.
Jhalak Gaire, central member of FNJ and regional coordinator said that journalists are the real Human Rights defender as they come first in such violation issues. He further praised and thanked INSEC for organising such program. He added that Human Right is everyone’s general issue.
The training program will include issues such as situation & challenges of human rights defender in media sector, role of media person in protection and promotion of Human Rights, INSEC, Human Rights Monitoring and documentations etc. The training will be facilitated by NHRC regional director Murari Kharel, Narayan Subedi of INSEC, Jhalak Gaire and journalist Thakur Singh Tharu. The training is participated by 16 journalists from various districts such as Banke, Bardiya, Surkhet and Dang.
