Action Plan Formulation and Problem Identification Meeting at Dakneshwari
The Human Rights Group of Dakneshwori Municipality, established by the Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC) Madhesh Province, successfully concluded a meeting on action plan development and problem identification on 15 October 2024. Chairperson of the Human Rights Group, Ramchandra Mandal, stated that the action plan includes several key initiatives. These initiatives involve rescuing abandoned individuals with mental health issues from households in Ward Number 3 and sending them to Manav Sewa Ashram. The plan also includes monitoring schools and conducting a registration campaign for children in the Dalit community. Furthermore, discussions will be held online three times a month. The group will organize cleanliness programs and tree-planting activities, along with launching a campaign against gender-based violence.
INSEC District Facilitator Ajay Pariyar reported that the meeting unanimously decided to establish human rights groups in all wards. Additionally, they agreed to submit letters of concern to the municipality and relevant stakeholders to address the issues identified in the wards. Emphasizing the need to continue the human rights campaign, Ward Chairperson Ramesh Chaudhary expressed his commitment to provide all possible support from the ward. Municipality member Sunita Sardar stated that she would inform the municipality about the identified issues from the ward and advocate for a public hearing program to be held once a year.
Chairperson of the group, Ramchandra Mandal stated that they will identify citizens deprived of their rights and address their issues by bringing them to the attention of stakeholders and authorities for resolution. In the meeting held in the conference hall of the Ward Number 5 office, with the participation of all the officials of the Human Rights Group, INSEC facilitator Pariyar provided insights into the project and its objectives.
