INSEC Thanks Metropolis for Committement Development Disability-Friendly Structures

We would like to extend our thanks to Executive Officer Kedar Bahadur Adhikari of Kathmandu Metropolis for his institutional and personal acknowledgement of the need for disabled-friendly strutures and committement to ensure construction of future physical structures in similar manner. Adhikari had made committement to the Self-Dependent Life Style Center Kathmandu had gone to the Metropolis office on June 29 to hand over a memorandum demanding so.

INSEC, on behalf of the civil society, will be monitoring the Metropolis’ commitment in ensuring roads currently being expanded and constructed. We would also like to remind all that INSEC has always been commitement towards the welfare and rights of the people with disability.

Nepal has already ratified the Convention on the Rights of the People with Disability in 2009. Even though the state should have taken special steps for rights of the people with disability and formulate policy as per the Convention, but the government has not been constructing the structure friendly for the people with disability.

We draw the attention of the government towards ensuring disabled-friendly public buildings and roads which war underconstruction.
