Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC)’s serious attention has been drawn towards the violent incident that occurred in Tikapur of Kailali during the demonstration on August 24.
Seven policemen and a 2-year-old son of a policeman were confirmed dead and three protesters were confirmed injured. We offer condolences to the bereaved families.
It has been public that the boy and the policemen were killed in barbaric way by the demonstrators. We condemn such inhuman and repulsive act.
There is no need for any kind of weapon in a peaceful demonstration therefore we would like to urge the demonstrators to realize that violence cannot be an answer to any kind of problem.
We demand that the government should take for legal action against the perpetrators of Tikapur violence by conducting judicial investigation and to ensure proper treatment of the injured.
