Appeal to Exercise the Sovereign Right by Participating in Voting
The election commission has notified that all the preparatory work for the local level election to be held on May 13, 2022 (tomorrow) has been completed. Three phases of the election were held in 2018. In the light of the essence of the constitution and as per the local level election act, the decision to conduct an election was taken on the day of the termination of the five-year-long tenure of the local level representatives. People elected representatives in short term, midterm and long-term for the executive and legislative functions. Elected representatives are obliged towards the general people. Therefore, the work of strengthening the democratic system is done at the local level itself. People’s participation is imperative for strengthening democracy.
We heartily request everyone to participate in the local level election and exercise the right to vote. The local level election plays a crucial role in consolidating and strengthening Human Rights, Social Justice and the Rule of Law. Tomorrow is the day for Nepali citizens to use their sovereign right enshrined under the constitution and select the candidates or parties they like. We appeal to all the voters to cast their votes without any undue influence, threats or fear.
