Youths Detained for Five Days for Chanting Slogans Against the Prime Minister

District Administration Office Kathmandu had permitted Police Circle Tinkune, on 22nd March, to investigate and detain the three youths for five days, who shouted slogans against Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda) in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-10 Thapagaon on 21 March 2023.

Police arrested Uddhav Basnet, 23, of Solukhumbu, Som Sharma of Baglung, 30, and Biplav Khadka, 18, of Bajhang on charges of shouting slogans during Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda’s speech at the Baneshwar banquet in Thapagaon on the occasion of the 58th International Day for the Elimination of Caste Discrimination.

The arrested persons were gagged by the police while they were being detained in the police van.

The accused are remanded in the custody of Police Circle New Baneshwar during the investigation period for the crime of indecent behavior, District Police Complex Kathmandu SP and Spokesperson Sitaram Rijal told the INSEC representative.
