Woman Injured by Husband’s Beating Lost Her life During Treatment
Kamala Neupane, a resident of Putali Bazar Municipality-13, lost her life in the course of treatment at Norvic Hospital on 22 March. She was undergoing treatment after being beaten by her husband.
Kamala, who was beaten up by her husband Laxmi Prasad Neupane and brother-in-law Keshav Raj Neupane was referred to Gandaki Medical College on 6 February after a basic treatment at Kalik community hospital, Bhirkot Municipality-1. Gandaki Medical College further referred her to Norvic hospital Kathmandu after noticing severe injuries in her head.
Kamala, who fainted after the beating was taken to the hospital with the help of villagers only after 14-15 hours of the incident. Villagers inquired about her whereabouts after not seeing her for hours. Upon the inquiry, they found her in an unconscious state and took her to the hospital swiftly. Kamal lost her life in the course of treatment at Norvic hospital.
A case of homicide had been filed against the accused at the District Police Office, Syangja on 7 February.
Husband Laxman Prasad Neupane and brother-in-law Kehsav Raj Neupane were arrested by the police. The District court has released Keshav Raj on the bail of NPR. 200,000 and remanded husband Laxmi Prasad to the judicial custody.
