Withdrawal of Candidates for the House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly Completed in Bagmati Province
First Past the Post candidates of Bagmati Province, for the upcoming House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly elections, have completed the process of withdrawal of candidature.
INSEC representative Nabaraj Ghimire, reports both independent candidates and candidates represntentig their political parties have withdrawn their candidature. Two independent candidates withdrew their candidacy, on the day fixed by the Election Commission. Independent candidate Rabindra Poudel and Dilliman Tamang, who had registered the candidacy against the elected members of their own political party i.e Maoist party, have withdrawn heir candidacy as well.
A total of 22 candidates from Ramechhap,12 candidates from Province 1, and 13 candidates for Province 2 have been registered for House of Representative election candidacy. Among them, one political party candidate and one independent candidate have withdrawn their candidacy.
According to INSEC representative, Sitaram Adhikari, seven candidates for Provincial Assembly have withdrawn their candidacy within the district. The candidates are Ajay Rimal of constituency 1, Ramesh Dhamalal, and Parshutaan Tamang of constituency no. 2 for the candidacy of the House of Representatives. It also includes the candidates for Provincial Assembly; Gyanendra Silwal from area 1 of constituency no.1 and Narayan Pokhrel, Dhanbahadur Ghale, and Chakra Bahadur Shah of area 2 of constituency no.2.
According to Shreeram Thapa, Electoral Officer of Rasuwa, the candidates for House of Representative; Shivaprashad Lamichane, Sanat Devokta of Province 1, and Ramprashad Nepane of Province 2, have withdrawn their candidacy as the response to the pressure of the alliance party.
INSEC Lalitpur representative, Deep Prasad Ghimire reported the withdrawal of the candidature of 3 candidates for the House of Representatives and 5 candidates for the Provincial Assembly. Election Officer, Balkrishna Niraula reported that in the House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly constituency no 1, 1 independent candidate, and in constituency no 2, 6 candidates of political parties along with 9 independent candidates have withdrawn their candidature. Raju Ale Magar from province 1 has withdrawn his candidature. Out of 21 candidates for the House of Representatives of constituency no 1, there are 11 candidates of a political party and 10 independent candidates. According to Niraula, in the Provincial Assembly constituency no 1, in a total of 12 candidates, there are 7 candidates from political parties and seven independent candidates.
Independent candidate Prem Bahadur Maharjan from constituency no 2 has withdrawn their candidature. Furthermore, Ram Gopal Shi, province 1, also has withdrawn their candidacy. However, in province 2, the entire 11 candidacies remain.
In the House of Representatives constituency no 2, among 22 candidates, there are 14 candidates from political parties and 8 independent candidates. Similarly, in the Provincial Assembly constituency no 1, there are 8 candidates from political parties and 1 independent candidate, and in the constituency, no 2 there are 8 candidates from political parties and 3 independent candidates.
In constituency no 3, for the House of Representatives two candidacies, for Provincial Assembly (1) 1 candidacy, and in constituency 2, 9 candidacies have been retained. Hari Shrestha and Sharad Kumar Maharjan, along with Jagatlal Maharjan from province 1 have withdrawn their candidature for the election of the House of Representatives. There are in total of 20 candidacies for the House of Representatives (3), 11 candidacies for Provincial Assembly (1), and 11 candidates for Provincial Assembly (2).
