Ward Chairpersons Accused of Physically Assaulting Police Officer
Jeevan Chapai, a 28-year-old policeman working at Gulfagad Police Station of Adanchuli Rural Municipality, was beaten up by Dil Bahadur Fadera, Ward Chairperson of Adanchuli Rural Municipality-3 and Manshrashi Pandey, Ward Chairperson of the same Rural Municipality-4 on July 5.
Assistant Superintendent Kumar Giri of Gulfagad Police has provided information stating that the accused individual physically assaulted a police officer while en route to respond to an incident report regarding the beating of Chairperson Mohan Bikram Singh on July 5th.
According to ASP Giri, the accused beat the officer up before the police team reached the spot. He said that the injured policeman was taken to Surkhet on July 6 for treatment.
DSP Bhimalal Bhattarai said that the accused has not been arrested so far and a team of Inspector Deepak Malla from headquarters Simkot went to the spot for further investigation.
While trying to contact the chairman of the village regarding the incident, he could not be contacted till the time of preparing this news. It takes two days from the headquarters to reach the scene.
