On September 5, an incident occurred in which Nar Bahadur Budha, a resident of Khaptad Chededah Rural Municipality-3, was physically assaulted by Birkh Rawat, who serves as the Ward Chairperson in the same Rural Municipality-3.

According to the victim’s account, Mr. Rawat, the Ward Chairperson, allegedly assaulted and injured him following an alcohol-fueled gathering at a shop near the ward office. The altercation reportedly stemmed from Mr. Budha’s decision not to vote in favor of Mr. Rawat during the local elections in 2079. Tek Bahadur Budha, the son of the victim, claimed that on September 5, Mr. Rawat and his associates had been consuming alcohol throughout the day, engaging in abusive behavior towards local residents. In the evening, they allegedly attacked Mr. Nar Bahadur Budha, inflicting injuries with sharp weapons.

The victim’s son has accused Ward Chairperson Rawat of repeatedly threatening his father due to his electoral choice. Mr. Nar Bahadur Budha, who sustained injuries to his head and various parts of his body during the assault, is currently receiving medical treatment at the Dogti Health Post.

In a telephone conversation with an INSEC representative, Rawat admitted to a dispute arising from an alcohol-infused gathering in a local shop. He claimed that during the altercation, Mr. Nar Bahadur Budha bit his hand, leading to his retaliatory action.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Debdatta Pant of Dogara Police Station stated that he had received information about Ward President Rawat’s alleged assault on local residents following alcohol consumption. When he contacted the victim, he learned that Mr. Budha was undergoing medical treatment. Pant further mentioned that no formal written complaint had been submitted by the victim’s side at that time.
