Voting Continues in Maharajgunj Municipality
The election of Maharajgunj Municipality, which was postponed on May 13 resumed on on May 18 from 7 am.
Chief Election Officer Tejendra Prasad Sharma Sapkota said that the voting process is underway from 43 centres in 23 polling stations in the municipality.
The election was postponed after the death of Shubhavati Kurmi, a Nepali Congress candidate for the position of deputy mayor on the municipality on May 8.
Rita Kumari Kurmi, 28, daughter-in-law of the deceased, was nominated for the post on May 10.
There are 32,321 voters in the municipality, of which 13,914 are women and 18,408 are men, said Gyanuram Panthi, chief of the district election office.
