Update of September 20 Regarding Corona Virus Infection

The number of COVID-19 infected people have reached 64,122 after additional 1,325 new cases detected positive in Nepal on September 20, 2020. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 46,233 have been discharged after recovery. On September 20, the rate of recovery reached 72.1% along with the 966 latest discharged after treatment. The ministry reported that 17,478 people are being treated. Till now, the death toll has reached 411. According to the Ministry, 9,584 numbers of swabs tests were conducted in the past 24 hours.

In Province 2,

According to Saptari Representative, Manohar Kumar Pokharel, a 62-year-old woman of Bishnupur Rural Municipality-3 died in the afternoon September 20. Dr Ranjit Kumar Jha, acting medical superintendent of the hospital, said that the woman was admitted to Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital in Rajbiraj on September 18 after suffering from cold, cough and fever. The death toll in Saptari has risen to 10, including two women. According to the Health Office, Saptari, 24 people including her were admitted to the emergency room of the hospital on September 20.

According to the Health Office, 24 people, including two 26-year-old policemen of the District Police Office, a 31-year-old soldier of the Bhim Dal Battalion, and a 43-year-old man of the Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives, Province No. 2, Janakpurdham have been infected with the corona.

According to Sarlahi Representative, Budhan Sah, a 54-year-old man from Haripur Municipality-9 died while undergoing treatment at the ICU ward of Bharatpur Hospital in Chitwan on September 19. He was admitted to Bharatpur Hospital on August 27 due to respiratory problems. Sarlahi’s Chief District Officer Surendra Poudel said that he received a COVID-19 positive report on September 3 while undergoing corona test at Bharatpur Hospital. The body was managed by the Nepal Army in the morning of September 20, said Jamirudin Mansuri, Mayor of Haripur Municipality. With this, the number of deaths due to corona infection in the district has reached six so far.

According to Bara Representative, Bholanath Poudel, a 65-year-old man from Kalaiya sub-metropolitan-13 Balirampur died on September 20 while undergoing treatment at the National Medical College, Birgunj. The man was suffering from kidney disease and paralysis and was admitted to the National Medical College for treatment on September 20. When the National Medical College conducted a PCR test at Narayani Hospital on September 17, he was diagnosed with COVID-19 positive. According to DSP Gautam Mishra of the District Police Office, the body was managed in the evening of September 20 with the cooperation of the family of the deceased and the Nepal Army. Twenty people have died of corona in the district till September 19.

In Bagmati Province,

On September 20, the COVID-19 positive cases of Bagmati Province are as follows: 602 in Kathmandu, 104 in Bhaktapur, 64 in Lalitpur, 24 in Makwanpur, 21 in Dhading, 15 in Chitwan, five in Kavrepalanchok, four in Dolakha, three in Sindhupalchowk, one each in Sindhuli and Nuwakot. The number of infected people in the province has reached 21,070. Of them, 10,941 have returned home after treatment while 9,994 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals and isolation centres. With the death of seven more people, the number of deaths due to COVID-19 in the province has reached 145.

In Province 5,

According to Palpa Representative, Yagya Murti Timalsina, a 42-year-old woman from Argali of Tansen Municipality-14 died on September 19 due to COVID-19, informed Om Prakash Panthi, Information Officer at the District Health Office. The woman, was suffering from pneumonia and was taken to the hospital for treatment on September 15. She was confirmed COVID-19 positive on September 16. The number of deaths from corona in the district has reached four.

According to Banke Representative, Smriti Devkota, a 59-year-old man from Purani of Nepalgunj sub-metropolitan-21 died of COVID-19 on September 19. The swab test was taken at Bheri Hospital, Nepalgunj on September 5 and it confirmed the patient to be COVID-19 positive. He died on September 19 undergoing treatment with hydro-oxygen and plasma therapy. Ten people have died of corona infection in Banke so far.
