Update of September 17 Regarding COVID-19 Infection

The number of COVID-19 infected people has reached 783,075 after additional 1,086 new cases were detected positive in Nepal on September 17, 2021. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 746,566 of the total infected have recovered, and the recovery rate has reached 95.3% along with 1,351 latest recovered.

According to the Ministry, 8,665 swab tests were conducted in the past 24 hours. Out of the total number of tests conducted on September 17, 13% were diagnosed positive and overall there were 19.2% people diagnosed positive till now.

Till now, the death toll has reached 11,012. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 10 people died on September 17. There are 25,497 people in home isolation. Morang, Sunsari, Jhapa, Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Makwanpur, Kavrepalanchok, Kaski, and Rupandehi, have more than 500 active cases.

On September 17, 3,720 people were tested through the antigen process among which 472 were diagnosed positive with COVID-19. Till date, 88,659 people have been diagnosed positive with antigen process. The number of infected, cured, and active cases has not been separated into this number. According to the ministry, 5,507,380 people have been fully vaccinated till September 17.

According to Tehrathum representative Suresh Khatri, the prohibitory order has been extended in the district until further notice. A meeting held at the District COVID Crisis Management Centre on September 17 decided to extend the prohibitory order, informed Jayaram Bhandari, Acting Chief District Officer of the District. The shops and supply stores will operate till 6 pm during the prohibitory order following the health protocol. It has been instructed not to gather in crowds or conduct conferences, cultural programs, and rallies. Schools have been instructed to conduct the classes in shifts following proper health protocols.
