Update of October 27 Regarding COVID-19 Infection

The number of COVID-19 infected people have reached 160,400 after additional 570 new cases were detected positive in Nepal on October 27, 2020. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 118,843 have been discharged after recovery. On October 27, the rate of recovery reached 74.1% along with the 3,168 latest discharged after treatment. The ministry reported that 40,681 people are being treated. Out of which, 32,464 are in home isolation, 281 are being treated in ICU and 71 are being treated with the support of the ventilators. Till now, the death toll has reached 876. According to the Ministry, 2,725 number of swabs tests were conducted in the past 24 hours.

Gandaki Province

According to Baglung representative Srijana Panta, as informed by ward member Khum Bhandari entire Dhamja village of Kathekhola Rural Municipality is sealed after COVID-19 infection on one man is found positive. He came back home from India on October 26 to celebrate Dashain. His swab test was conducted at Tuberculosis Testing center in Pokhara and kept at isolation of Dhaulagiri Hospital. The infected person came back one week ago to district headquarter Baglung Bazar from India. He was staying at home quarantine and few days ago gave nasal swab for PCR test. But, according to ward chairperson of Kathekhola-3 Yam Bahadur Srish, before the test result, he went to village without informing ward office risking the whole village of infection and to stop the spread whole village is sealed. As there were no symptoms after giving swab for test he celebrated dashain with his family and participated on sporting events with friends.
