Update of October 18 Regarding COVID-19 Infection

The number of COVID-19 infected people have reached 132,246 after additional 2,942 new cases were detected positive in Nepal on October 18, 2020. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 92,166 have been discharged after recovery. On October 18, the rate of recovery reached 69.7% along with the 2,326 latest discharged after treatment. The ministry reported that 39,341 people are being treated. Out of which, 26,408 are in home isolation, 301 are being treated in ICU and 66 are being treated with the support of the ventilators. Till now, the death toll has reached 739. According to the Ministry, 14,875 number of swabs tests were conducted in the past 24 hours.

Provincial Reports

In Province 1,

According to Morang Representative Netra Prasad Adhikari, the district administration office has issued a prohibitory order on October 18, saying that the infection of COVID-19 could spread during the week of Dashain. Chief District Officer Koshahari Niraula said that a prohibition has been issued from midnight on October 18 to midnight on October 31. According to the order, worshipers are not allowed to gather at the temple. Chief District Officer Niraula said that the program of exchanging good wishes has been stopped. The number of COVID-19 infected people in the district has reached 6,624 as of October 18. Of them, 2,742 have been cured.

In Gandaki Province,

According to Myagdi Representative, Amrit Prasad Poudel, after an employee of the Mangala rural municipality was diagnosed positive of COVID-19 infection, the services provided by the rural municipality has been stopped except for urgent services. Maya Kunwar, Assistant Chief District Officer at the District Administration Office, Myagdi, said that all the works except those provided by the Rural Municipality Office have been suspended from October 18 until further notice.
