Update of October 10 Regarding Corona Virus Infection

The number of COVID-19 infected people have reached 105,684 after additional 5,008 new cases were detected positive in Nepal on October 10, 2020. Out of them, 30% are women and 70% are men. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 74,252 have been discharged after recovery. On October 10, the rate of recovery reached 70.3% along with the 1,229 latest discharged after treatment. The ministry reported that 30,818 people are being treated. Out of which, 17,164 are in home isolation, 321 are being treated in ICU and 77 are being treated with the support of the ventilators. Till now, the death toll has reached 614. According to the Ministry, 19,320 number of swabs tests were conducted in the past 24 hours.

Provincial Reports

In Bagmati Province,

According to Ramechhap Representative Nabaraj Ghimire, after the employees of Khandadevi rural municipality were diagnosed with COVID-19 the rural municipality has issued a notice on October 10 and sealed the rural municipality office and the surrounding area. Prem Bahadur Tamang, chairperson of the rural municipality informed that the infection was confirmed in one of the employees of the office on October 10. He said that the infected employees were living in home isolation. Tamang informed that the office will be operational only after receiving the report after examining the swabs of other employees and people’s representatives. It will take at least five days for this and in the meantime, all the services provided by the municipality will be closed.

In Lumbini Province,

According to Rupendehi Representative Rima BC, a 55-year-old woman of Butwal sub-metropolitan-9 and a 76-year-old man of Sunwal Municipality-5 of Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta West) district died on October 10 while undergoing treatment at Lumbini Provincial Hospital. An old man from Nawalparasi, tested positive for COVID-19 a week ago, was diagnosed with asthma, high blood pressure and fever. Similarly, a 57-year-old man of Shuddhodhan Rural Municipality-6 and a 79-year-old man of Butwal Sub-Metropolitan-10 died at the Corona Special Hospital in Butwal on September 8, said Dr. Sudarshan Thapa of Lumbini Provincial Hospital, Butwal.

According to Palpa Representative Yagyamurti Timilsina, the rural municipality has been sealed from October 10 to 17 after the COVID-19 was confirmed in 10 people including the people’s representatives and employees of Nisdi rural municipality on the same day. The rural municipality has informed that the report of the staff and people’s representatives have been positive and there is a high risk of spreading COVID at the community level. Similarly, Rampur Hospital in Palpa has stated that other services except emergency have been closed since October 10, due to infection among the health workers.
