Update of May 5 Regarding COVID-19 Infection

The number of COVID-19 infected people has reached 359,610 after additional 8,605 new cases were detected positive in Nepal on May 5, 2021. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 289,738 of the total infected have recovered and the rate of recovery has reached 80.6% along with the 1,993 latest recovered.

According to the Ministry, 20,756 swab tests were conducted in the past 24 hours. Out of the total number of tests conducted on May 5, 41% were diagnosed positive and overall there were 14.1% people diagnosed positive till now. On May 5, 737 people below the age of 19 were diagnosed positive for COVID-19.

Till now, the death toll has reached 3,475. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 58 people died on May 5. There are 66,352 in isolation. There are more than 500 active cases in Morang, Sunsari, Jhapa, Dhanusha, Parsa, Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Chitwan, Kavrepalanchowk, Makwanpur, Kaski, Dang, Rupandehi, Banke, Palpa, Bardiya, Kapilbastu, Surkhet and Kailali. The Ministry of Home Affairs has implemented complete and partial prohibition in 56 districts.

According to Dolakha Representative, a prohibitory order has been issued in Dolakha from 12am on May 5 till May 15, 2021.
