Update of June 11 Regarding COVID-19 Infection

The number of COVID-19 infected people has reached 604,396 after additional 2,709 new cases were detected positive in Nepal on June 11, 2021. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 520,816 of the total infected have recovered, and the recovery rate has reached 86.2% along with the 5,225 latest recovered.

According to the Ministry, 9,598 swab tests were conducted in the past 24 hours. Out of the total number of tests conducted on June 11, 28% were diagnosed positive and overall there were 18.9% people diagnosed positive till now. On June 11, 292 people below the age of 19 were diagnosed positive for COVID-19.

Till now, the death toll has reached 8,305 According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 67 people died on June 11. There are 75,275 in isolation. There are more than 500 active cases in Morang, Sunsari, Jhapa, Rautahat, Dhanusha, Parsa, Mahottari, Bara, Saptari, Siraha, Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Chitwan, Kavrepalanchowk, Makwanpur, Dhading, Nuwakot, Sindhupalchowk, Sindhuli, Ramechhap, Kaski, Nawalparasi East, Gorkha, Tanahu, Syangja, Myagdi, Dang, Rupandehi, Banke, Palpa, Bardiya, Kapilbastu, Arghakhanchi, Nawalparasi West, Surkhet, Salyan, Dailekh, Dadeldhura, Kailali, Kanchanpur, Baitadi, Doti and Achham.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 75 districts have been following complete or partial prohibition till June 11, 2021, no further information have been received later.

According to Kailali representative Mainamoti Chaudhary, vaccination has started to the senior citizens in the age group of 60 to 64 years in 13 municipalities of the district from June 9 to 11. Dayaram Rana, 64, of Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan-8 complained that out of the 84,000 doses received for the Sudur Paschim Province, 13,610 doses were given in 13 municipalities in Kailali district. Muliya Rana, 63, of Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan-8 complained that she could not get the vaccine as the people beyond the age group also took the vaccine.

Setudevi Kami, 64, of Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan-1, complained that she was deprived of the vaccine as no one informed her that it was only for senior citizens. Lal Bahadur Dhami, head of the District Health Office, Kailali, said that the target group was not vaccinated as more people in the age group of 60 to 64 years were vaccinated against the disease.

He said, “There are more than 25,000 senior citizens in Kailali and 11,000 people above the age of 55 were vaccinated in the first phase. In the second phase, the vaccine came in small quantities. All the target group citizens could not be vaccinated when the Nepal Police, journalists, sanitation workers and other citizens working in the frontline were also vaccinated.
