Update of June 10 Regarding COVID-19 Infection

The number of COVID-19 infected people has reached 601,687 after additional 2,874 new cases were detected positive in Nepal on June 10, 2021. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 515,591 of the total infected have recovered, and the recovery rate has reached 85.7% along with the 5,293 latest recovered.

According to the Ministry, 9,901 swab tests were conducted in the past 24 hours. Out of the total number of tests conducted on June 10, 29% were diagnosed positive and overall there were 18.9% people diagnosed positive till now. On June 10, 366 people below the age of 19 were diagnosed positive for COVID-19.

Till now, the death toll has reached 8,238 According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 59 people died on June 10. There are 77,858 in isolation. There are more than 500 active cases in Morang, Sunsari, Jhapa, Rautahat, Dhanusha, Parsa, Mahottari, Bara, Saptari, Siraha, Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Chitwan, Kavrepalanchowk, Makwanpur, Dhading, Nuwakot, Sindhupalchowk, Sindhuli, Ramechhap, Kaski, Nawalparasi East, Gorkha, Tanahu, Syangja, Myagdi, Dang, Rupandehi, Banke, Palpa, Bardiya, Kapilbastu, Arghakhanchi, Nawalparasi West, Surkhet, Salyan, Dailekh, Dadeldhura, Kailali, Kanchanpur, Baitadi, Doti and Achham.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 75 districts have been following complete or partial prohibition till June 10, 2021, no further information have been received later.

In Province 2,

According to Saptari Representative Manohar Kumar Pokhrel, the Kanchanrup municipality area, which was sealed on May 14, 2021, after the infection of Covid-19 was on peak, has been sealed again till June 14. Chief Administrative Officer Nawaraj Khadka informed that the seal period has been extended as the rate of infection has not decreased in Kanchanrup Municipality, which has the highest number of infections and deaths in the second wave of Covid-19 among the local levels of the district. According to the mayor Basant Kumar Mishra, as per the decision of the all-party meeting, the services provided by the municipality and ward office have been stopped except for the most essential health services.

In Gandaki Province,

According to Lamjung representative Dal Bahadur Majakoti, a meeting of the District Covid Management Committee on June 10 has decided to extend the prohibition for one week. According to the decision, the time of the prohibition order has been extended till June 17.

In Lumbini Province,

According to Dang Representative Jayanarayan Pun, an investigation committee has been formed to interrogate the complaints about vaccination which was given to people beyond the targetted age group. The district administration office has formed an investigation committee after receiving complaints that the vaccine against covid was given to people beyond the age group of 62 to 64 years. To investigate whether the vaccination campaign was effective in all the ten local levels of the district after complaints were made on social media that people from outside the target group have been vaccinated in Ghorahi, Tulsipur Sub-metropolitan, Lamahi Municipality and Rajpur Rural Municipality. The committee has been formed under the leadership of Assistant Chief District Officer Chirinjavi Rana on June 10, said Chief District Officer Dirghanarayan Poudel. Chief District Officer Poudel said that a team led by Assistant Chief District Officer Rana and Chief of the District Health Office Angad Bahadur Shahi would visit 10 local level vaccination centres and submit a report within two days. The remaining 10 vaccines from Amelya Health Center were sent back to Lamahi Hospital on June 10.

Similarly, the vaccination program was postponed for some time in Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan-14, 15 and 18 and half of the vaccines were used on the people who were acquainted with the local level. The locals of Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan had to wait for seven hours for vaccination. Narayan Gharti, head of the health department under Ghorahi sub-metropolitan, said that the target group was vaccinated despite pressure from other age groups.
