Update of July 8 Regarding COVID-19 Infection
The number of COVID-19 infected people has reached 651,380 after additional 1,218 new cases were detected positive in Nepal on July 8, 2021. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 615,613 of the total infected have recovered, and the recovery rate has reached 94.5% along with the 1,286 latest recovered.
According to the Ministry, 5,374 swab tests were conducted in the past 24 hours. Out of the total number of tests conducted on July 8, 23% were diagnosed positive and overall there were 19.2% people diagnosed positive till now. On July 8, 133 people below the age of 20 were diagnosed positive for COVID-19.
Till now, the death toll has reached 9,320. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 29 people died on July 8. There are 26,622 in isolation. Morang, Sunsari, Jhapa, Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Chitwan, Makwanpur and Kaski has more than 500 active cases.
According to Tanahu representative, Prakash Chandra Bhattarai, the prohibitory order issued in the district has been extended till July 15, 2021. The meeting of the District COVID Crisis Committee held on July 7 decided to extend the prohibitory order considering the risk of the disease in the district.
According to Gulmi representative, Toplal Aryal, the meeting of the District COVID Crisis Committee held on July 7 decided to extend the prohibitory order till July 15, 2021, informed Rudradevi Sharma, Chief District Officer of the district. In the second wave of COVID-19, 91 people lost their lives in the district. At present, there are 531 active infected people in the district.
According to Rukum (West) representative, Manish KC, the District Administration Office extended the prohibitory order till July 16, 2021, considering the risk of COVID-19, informed Chief District Officer Badrinath Gaire. According to him, banks and financial institutions will operate from 10am to 5am. Likewise, shops and businesses will open from 6am to 6pm following the health protocols.
