Update of July 4 Regarding COVID-19 Infection

The number of COVID-19 infected people has reached 644,622 after additional 1,042 new cases were detected positive in Nepal on July 4, 2021. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 609,218 of the total infected have recovered, and the recovery rate has reached 94.5% along with the 2,552 latest recovered.

According to the Ministry, 4,876 swab tests were conducted in the past 24 hours. Out of the total number of tests conducted on July 4, 21% were diagnosed positive and overall there were 19.1% people diagnosed positive till now. On July 4, 109 people below the age of 20 were diagnosed positive for COVID-19.

Till now, the death toll has reached 9,225. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 27 people died on July 4. There are 26,259 in isolation.

According to Kathmandu representative, Bimala Paudel, the prohibitory order has been eased further by removing the odd and even rule for public vehicles. The meeting of the Chief District Officers of the three districts of the Kathmandu Valley held on July 4, 2021, has decided to extend the prohibitory order till July 15. They have now allowed the operation of microbuses and tempos. Kathmandu’s Chief District Officer Kali Prasad Parajuli said that the meeting decided to remove the odd even rule for public transportation. Provision has been made for the operation of long distance public transport as well. For the long distance vehicles to operate, they must have a permit of the District Administration Office. The information issued by the District Administration Office states that public health protocols must be followed while operating the transportations.

According to Makwanpur representative Pushpa Raj Adhikari, the prohibitory order has been extended till July 15, 2021, as per the decision of the meeting of the District COVID Crisis Management Committee held on July 4. The extended order has banned the operation of public transportations. According to the District Administration Office, food, groceries, vegetable, fruit and dairy shops will be open till 10 am. Apart from this, stationery shop, mobile and automobile maintenance will operate from 12 noon to 4 pm.
