Update of July 17 Regarding COVID-19 Infection

The number of COVID-19 infected people has reached 665,886 after additional 1,310 new cases were detected positive in Nepal on July 17, 2021. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 630,407 of the total infected have recovered, and the recovery rate has reached 94.5% along with the 2,164 latest recovered.

According to the Ministry, 6,858 swab tests were conducted in the past 24 hours. Out of the total number of tests conducted on July 17, 19.10% were diagnosed positive and overall there were 19.2% people diagnosed positive till now.

Till now, the death toll has reached 9,527. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 21 people died on July 17. There are 25,952 in isolation. Morang, Sunsari, Jhapa, Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Chitwan, Kaski and Surkhet has more than 500 active cases.

In Bagmati Province,

According to Nuwakot representative Nawadeep Shrestha, the District Administration Office has again extended the prohibitory order to control the infection of Covid-19. Chief District Officer Jeevan Prasad Dulal informed that the prohibitory order will be extended till July 25. As per the data of July 17, 576 people are actively infected in the district. Thirty-seven people have died in the district till date due to COVID-19.

According to Rasuwa representative Hemnath Khatiwada, a meeting of the Covid-19 District Crisis Management Centre held on July 16 has extended the prohibitory order till July 25, said Chief District Officer Ishwori Prasad Dhakal. The District Administration Office has banned people from visiting others except for urgent work during the period of prohibitory order. They have been instructed to visit the doctor if health problems similar to COVID-19 are seen in them. They have been instructed not to crowd in markets, fairs, festivals, parties, banquets, etc. If you have symptoms of COVID or any other similar health problem, you should immediately contact the nearest health institution or local level. It has been informed that action would be taken as per the Infectious Diseases Act, 2020 BS, and Covid-19 Crisis Management Ordinance, 2028 BS.

In Lumbini Province,

According to Pyuthan representative Rabindra Pandey, a meeting of the Covid-19 District Crisis Management Centre held on July 15 decided to extend the prohibitory order till July 25, said Chief District Officer Khimraj Bhusal. The meeting decided not to operate the educational institution until further notice, and to use health standards when using shops and vehicles, said CDO Bhusal. So far, 197 people have been actively infected in the district and 60 people have died of COVID-19 in the second phase, said Pushkal Shrestha, an official at the District Health Office.
