Update of July 12 Regarding COVID-19 Infection

The number of COVID-19 infected people has reached 657,139 after additional 1,690 new cases were detected positive in Nepal on July 12, 2021. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 621,027 of the total infected have recovered, and the recovery rate has reached 94.5% along with the 1,133 latest recovered.

According to the Ministry, 7,689 swab tests were conducted in the past 24 hours. Out of the total number of tests conducted on July 12, 22% were diagnosed positive and overall there were 19.2% people diagnosed positive till now. On July 12, 240 people below the age of 20 were diagnosed positive for COVID-19.

Till now, the death toll has reached 9,400. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 18 people died on July 12. There are 26,887 in isolation. Morang, Sunsari, Jhapa, Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Chitwan, Makwanpur and Kaski has more than 500 active cases.

According to Panchthar representative Mangal Begha, the prohibitory order issued in the district has been extended till July 19, 2021. Chief District Officer Punya Prasad Dhakal said that the meeting of the District Covid Crisis Management Centre held on July 12 decided to extend the time of the prohibitory order. A notice issued by the District Administration Office on July 12 states that all types of services except essential ones will be closed during the prohibition order.

According to Okhaldhunga representative Saraswati Baniya, the prohibitory order issued in the district has been extended till July 19, 2021. According to Chief District Officer Bandana Rai, a meeting of the Covid-19 Crisis Management Centre held on July 12 decided to extend the prohibition order till July 19. The information issued by the District Administration Office states that the services flowing from government agencies, public institutions and the banking sector can be provided with health standards during the time of the prohibition order.

In Sudur Paschim Province,

According to Baitadi representative Naridatta Badu, 35 people in Chadepani village of Dogadakedar Rural Municipality-7 have been diagnosed with COVID-19 after which the village has been sealed till July 18. The movement in Chadepani village has been suspended till July 18 and testing has also been extended, said Health Branch Chief Narendra Nath.
