Update of January 8 Regarding COVID-19 Infection

The number of COVID-19 infected people has reached 831,748 after additional 696 new cases were detected positive in Nepal on January 8, 2022. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 814,006 of the total infected have recovered, and the recovery rate has reached 97.9% along with 297 latest recovered.

According to the Ministry, 9,762 swab tests were conducted in the past 24 hours. Out of the total number of tests conducted on January 8, 7% were diagnosed positive and overall there were 16.9% people diagnosed positive till now.

Till now, the death toll has reached 11,602. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, there have been no deaths on January 7 and 8. There are 6,140 people in home isolation. Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur have more than 500 active cases.

On January 8, 3,502 people were tested through the antigen process among which 248 were diagnosed positive with COVID-19. Till date, 97,089 people have been diagnosed positive with antigen process. The number of infected, cured, and active cases has not been separated into this number. According to the Ministry, 11,111,468 people have been fully vaccinated till January 8.
