Update of January 28 Regarding COVID-19 Infection

The number of COVID-19 infected people has reached 944,074 after additional 4,807 new cases were detected positive in Nepal on January 28, 2022. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 842,436 of the total infected have recovered, and the recovery rate has reached 89.1% along with 5,432 latest recovered. There are 89,941 active infected cases at present.

According to the Ministry, 13,791 swab tests were conducted in the past 24 hours. Out of the total number of tests conducted on January 28, 35% were diagnosed positive and overall there were 18.2% people diagnosed positive till now.

Till now, the death toll has reached 11,697. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 10 died on January 28. Morang, Sunsari, Jhapa, Dhanusha, Saptari, Siraha, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Chitwan, Makwanpur, Kavrepalanchowk, Nuwakot, Kaski, Nawalparasi East, Tanahu, Banke, Rupandehi, Dang and Kailali have more than 500 active cases.

On January 28, 6,078 people were tested through the antigen process among which 2,020 were diagnosed positive with COVID-19. Till date, 124,858 people have been diagnosed positive with antigen method. The number of infected, cured, and active cases has not been separated in this data. According to the Ministry, 13,833,629 people have been fully vaccinated till January 28.
