Update of January 25 Regarding COVID-19 Infection

The number of COVID-19 infected people has reached 269,789 after additional 339 new cases were detected positive in Nepal on January 25, 2020. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 264,538 of the total infected have recovered. On January 26, the rate of recovery reached 98.1% along with the 401 latest recovered. The ministry reported that 3,240 people are being treated. Out of which 2,504 are in home isolation, 137 are being treated in ICU, and 19 are being treated with the support of the ventilators. Till now, the death toll has reached 2,011. According to the Ministry, 4,858 swab tests were conducted in the past 24 hours. There aren’t any active cases in Rukum West, Kalikot, and Mugu, while Kathmandu has more than 500 active cases.

In Province 1,

According to Morang Representative Netra Prasad Adhikari, 9,600 vaccines against COVID-19 have arrived in the province capital Biratnagar on January 25. The 9,600 vaccines sent by the Health Services Department of the Ministry of Health and Population in the first phase have come for 14 districts of Province 1 and Siraha and Saptari districts of Province 2. The government is preparing to vaccinate 34,851 health workers and employees of government and private hospitals in 14 districts of Province 1, 34,851 women health volunteers and 35,576 people including 725 sanitation workers in 14 districts. Among the health workers and employees of government and private hospitals in Province 1; 14,003 from Taplejung, 831 from Dhankuta, 1,237 from Udaypur, 1,176 from Bhojpur, 12,056 from Morang, 1,690 from Ilam and 1,003 from Okhaldhunga. According to the province government, 1,066 health workers will be vaccinated in Khotang, 1,977 in Jhapa, 723 in Tehrathum, 949 in Sankhuwasabha, 686 in Solkhumbu, 5,233 in Sunsari and 924 in Panchthar.
