Update of January 17 Regarding COVID-19 Infection
The number of COVID-19 infected people has reached 267,322 after additional 266 new cases were detected positive in Nepal on January 17, 2020. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 261,044 of the total infected have recovered. On January 17, the rate of recovery reached 97.8% along with the 400 latest recovered. The ministry reported that 4,058 people are being treated. Out of which 2,837 are in home isolation, 157 are being treated in ICU, and 39 are being treated with the support of the ventilators. Till now, the death toll has reached 1,959. According to the Ministry, 3,508 swab tests were conducted in the past 24 hours. There aren’t any active cases in Solukhumbu, Bhojpur, Nawal Parasi West Rukum West, Kalikot, and Mugu, while Kathmandu has more than 500 active cases.
