Update of January 12 Regarding COVID-19 Infection

The number of COVID-19 infected people has reached 265,698 after additional 253 new cases were detected positive in Nepal on January 12, 2020. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 259,358 of the total infected have recovered. On January 12, the rate of recovery reached 97.6% along with the 390 latest recovered. The ministry reported that 4,408 people are being treated. Out of which 2,128 are in home isolation, 157 are being treated in ICU, and 35 are being treated with the support of the ventilators. Till now, the death toll has reached 1,932. According to the Ministry, 5,003 swab tests were conducted in the past 24 hours. There aren’t any active cases in Taplejung, Rukum West, Bajura, and Mugu, while Kathmandu has more than 500 active cases.
