Update of December 6 Regarding COVID-19 Infection

The number of COVID-19 infected people has reached 822,830 after additional 238 new cases were detected positive in Nepal on December 6, 2021. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 804,901 of the total infected have recovered, and the recovery rate has reached 97.8% along with 357 latest recovered.

According to the Ministry, 7,114 swab tests were conducted in the past 24 hours. Out of the total number of tests conducted on December 6, 3% were diagnosed positive and overall there were 17.6% people diagnosed positive till now.

Till now, the death toll has reached 11,543. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, two people died on December 6. There are 6,386 people in home isolation. Kathmandu and Lalitpur have more than 500 active cases.

On December 6, 1,503 people were tested through the antigen process among which 27 were diagnosed positive with COVID-19. Till date, 95,619 people have been diagnosed positive with antigen process. The number of infected, cured, and active cases has not been separated into this number. According to the Ministry, 8,725,785 people have been fully vaccinated till December 6.

According to Baitadi representative, Nari Badu, after a student from Bhumeshwor Secondary School in Patan Municipality-4 was infected with COVID-19, the school has been closed for three days. Teacher Sushila Bhandari said that the school would be closed till December 7 and other students and teachers will be tested. There are four actively infected people in the district. The health office has urged the people to follow the public health protocols since the ‘Omicron’ variant has been diagnosed in the neighbouring country India. So far, 18 people have died of COVID-19 in the district.
