Update of December 4 Regarding COVID-19 Infection

The number of COVID-19 infected people has reached 238,861 after additional 1,272 new cases were detected positive in Nepal on December 4, 2020. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 34.5% of the COVID-19 infected patients are females and 221,847 of the total infected have recovered. On December 4, the rate of recovery reached 92.9% along with the 1,575 latest recovered. The ministry reported that 15,447 people are being treated. Out of which, 10,394 are in home isolation, 328 are being treated in ICU, and 54 are being treated with the support of the ventilators. Till now, the death toll has reached 1,567. According to the Ministry, 8,031 swab tests were conducted in the past 24 hours. There aren’t any active cases in Manang and Dolpa while Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Jhapa, Morang, and Kaski, have more than 500 active cases.

In Province 1,

According to Ilam representative Kokila Dhakal, as the number of people infected with COVID-19 is increasing in Ilam municipality, only emergency services will be provided till December 9. A meeting of the District COVID-19 Crisis Management Centre on December 4 has decided to close the markets in the city, schools and schools running on local routes. The meeting chaired by Chief District Officer Tulsiram Sedhai has decided to operate the government offices, banks and financial services in the presence of minimum staff by following the required health security standards. The number of COVID-19 infected people in Ilam Municipality is 117 as of December 4. So far, 12 people have died in Ilam due to COVID-19 infection, said Bimal Baral, COVID Focal Person at the Health Office.

In Sudur Paschim Province,

According to Baitadi representative Nari Badu, after the spread of COVID-19 infection at the community level, two localities in Baitadi have been locked down. According to the concerned locals, the strike has been declared in Dasharathchanda Municipality and Dilashani Rural Municipality. A lockdown has been announced in Dasharathchanda Municipality from November 27 to December 7 and in Dilashani Municipality from December 2 to December 11.
