Update of December 3 Regarding COVID-19 Infection

The number of COVID-19 infected people has reached 237,589 after additional 1,343 new cases were detected positive in Nepal on December 3, 2020. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 220,272 have recovered. On December 3, the rate of recovery reached 92.7% along with the 2,111 latest recovered. The ministry reported that 15,766 people are being treated. Out of which, 10,271 are in home isolation, 388 are being treated in ICU, and 65 are being treated with the support of the ventilators. Till now, the death toll has reached 1,551. According to the Ministry, 9,289 swab tests were conducted in the past 24 hours. There aren’t any active cases in Manang and Dolpa while Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Jhapa, Morang, and Kaski, have more than 500 active cases.

In Karnali Province

According to Jumla representative Mandatta Rawal, the administration office has been sealed after the confirmation of COVID-19 among the staff of the district administration office. Chief District Officer Bhupendra Thapa said that the administration has suspended the services other than peace and security and disaster management from December 3 to 5 by issuing a notice on December 3.

In Sudur Paschim Province

According to Kanchanpur representative Komal Niranjan Bhat, the Belauri Municipality has decided to stop non-essential services from December 3 to 9 after COVID-19 infection was detected in a people’s representative of on December 3. According to Khem Prasad Chaudhary, Chief Administrative Officer of Belauri Municipality, the municipal office and ward offices 4, 5 and 6 in Belauri Bazaar area have been closed till December 9 to reduce the risk of further infection. Apart from these, other ward offices will remain open, according to Belauri Municipality.
