Update of December 3 Regarding COVID-19 Infection

The number of COVID-19 infected people has reached 822,172 after additional 223 new cases were detected positive in Nepal on December 3, 2021. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 803,716 of the total infected have recovered, and the recovery rate has reached 97.7% along with 347 latest recovered.

According to the Ministry, 6,400 swab tests were conducted in the past 24 hours. Out of the total number of tests conducted on December 3, 3% were diagnosed positive and overall there were 17.7% people diagnosed positive till now.

Till now, the death toll has reached 11,535. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, no one died on December 3 due to COVID-19. There are 6,921 people in home isolation. Kathmandu and Lalitpur have more than 500 active cases.

On December 3, 1,436 people were tested through the antigen process among which 23 were diagnosed positive with COVID-19. Till date, 95,569 people have been diagnosed positive with antigen process. The number of infected, cured, and active cases has not been separated into this number. According to the Ministry, 8,613,847 people have been fully vaccinated till December 3.

According to Baglung Representative Srijana Pant, after 26 students and two teachers of Tribhuwan Secondary School in Balewa, Baglung Municipality-13 were infected with Covid-19, the school has been closed for indefinite period of time. During the Covid test of 81 teachers and students of the school on December 2, 26 students, and two teachers were diagnosed positive with COVID-19. The school has been closed since December 3 to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the community, said Dev Prakash Ghimire, COVID-19 focal person at the Health Office, Baglung.
