Update of December 16 Regarding COVID-19 Infection

The number of COVID-19 infected people has reached 825,176 after additional 160 new cases were detected positive in Nepal on December 16, 2021. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 808,083 of the total infected have recovered, and the recovery rate has reached 97.9% along with 300 latest recovered.

According to the Ministry, 7,230 swab tests were conducted in the past 24 hours. Out of the total number of tests conducted on December 16, 2% were diagnosed positive and overall there were 17.4% people diagnosed positive till now.

Till now, the death toll has reached 11,567. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, two died on December 16. There are 5,526 people in home isolation. Kathmandu and Lalitpur have more than 500 active cases.

On December 16, 3,788 people were tested through the antigen process among which 24 were diagnosed positive with COVID-19. Till date, 95,897 people have been diagnosed positive with antigen process. The number of infected, cured, and active cases has not been separated into this number. According to the Ministry, 9,468,489 people have been fully vaccinated till December 16.

According to Tanahu representative Prakash Chandra Bhattarai, after the COVID-19 infection was diagnosed in the students and teachers of Bhanu Secondary School in Bandipur Rural Municipality-2 after which the school has been closed. The rural municipality has stopped teaching in the school after the antigen test of two teachers and seven students working in the school diagnosed the infection of Covid-19. The Chairperson of the rural municipality, Purna Singh Thapa, informed that the classes have been stopped till December 22 as the risk of the infection may increase further.
