Update of December 15 Regarding COVID-19 Infection

The number of COVID-19 infected people has reached 250,180 after additional 936 new cases were detected positive in Nepal on December 15, 2020. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 238,569 of the total infected have recovered. On December 15, the rate of recovery reached 95.3% along with the 1,996 latest recovered. The ministry reported that 9,881 people are being treated. Out of which 6,103 are in home isolation, 3,778 are being treated in the hospital 321 are being treated in ICU, and 48 are being treated with the support of the ventilators. Till now, the death toll has reached 1,716. According to the Ministry, 7,117 swab tests were conducted in the past 24 hours. There aren’t any active cases in Manang while Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Kaski, have more than 500 active cases.

In Karnali Province,

According to Salyan representative Mina Budhathoki, the schools of Kapurkot rural municipality have been closed after eight teachers of the school were diagnosed with COVID-19 infection. Two of the infected teachers have shown proper symptoms as well. The school has been closed from December 13 to December 25, saying that the children studying in the school could spread the infection to the community. According to the school principal, the school came into operation on November 22. There are 950 students studying in the school.
