Update of December 11 Regarding COVID-19 Infection

The number of COVID-19 infected people has reached 246,694 after additional 1,044 new cases were detected positive in Nepal on December 11, 2020. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 232,872 of the total infected have recovered. On December 11, the rate of recovery reached 94.4% along with the 1,271 latest recovered. The ministry reported that 12,148 people are being treated. Out of which, 7,341 are in home isolation, 310 are being treated in ICU, and 50 are being treated with the support of the ventilators. Till now, the death toll has reached 1,674. According to the Ministry, 7,414 swab tests were conducted in the past 24 hours. There aren’t any active cases in Manang and Dolpa while Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Kaski, have more than 500 active cases.

In Sudur Paschim Province,

According to Darchula Representative Narendra Singh Karki, office of Lekam rural municipality has been closed from December 11 for one week after one of the staff and one teacher of Lekam rural municipality-4 were diagnosed positive with COVID-19. As per the information provided by Chief District Officer Sarad Kumar Pokhrel, the decision was taken sensing the possibility of spreading COVID-19.

According to Accham Representative Shiva Raj Dhungana, the Bannigadi Jayagad Rural Municipality has been sealed for 10 days starting from December 11 after community spread was found in the locality. The rural municipality will be closing all its non-essential services, informed the Administrative Chief Shailesh Raj Dhungana. There have been 148 cases diagnosed in the Rural Municipality till date and two of them have died. All the major markets have been sealed. There have been 1,471 cases of COVID-19 diagnosed in Achham out of which four have died and there are 300 active cases right now.
