Update of August 23 Regarding COVID-19 Infection

The number of COVID-19 infected people has reached 748,981 after additional 1,548 new cases were detected positive in Nepal on August 23, 2021. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 700,097 of the total infected have recovered, and the recovery rate has reached 93.5% along with 1,924 latest recovered.

According to the Ministry, 8,704 swab tests were conducted in the past 24 hours. Out of the total number of tests conducted on August 23, 18% were diagnosed positive and overall there were 19.5% people diagnosed positive till now.

Till now, the death toll has reached 10,533. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 24 people died on August 23. There are 38,351 in isolation. Morang, Sunsari, Jhapa, Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Chitwan, Makwanpur, Kavrepalanchok, Sindhupalchowk, Dolakha, Nuwakot, Nawalparasi East, Baglung, Kaski, Gorkha, Syangja, Tanahu, Dang, Rupandehi, and Surkhet have more than 500 active cases.

On August 23, 2,622 people were tested through the antigen process among which 253 were diagnosed positive with COVID-19. Till date, 80,462 people have been diagnosed positive with antigen process. The number of infected, cured, and active cases has not been separated into this number. According to the ministry, 3,857,598 people have been fully vaccinated till August 23.
