Update of August 2 Regarding COVID-19 Infection
The number of COVID-19 infected people has reached 699,649 after additional 2,279 new cases were detected positive in Nepal on August 2, 2021. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 658,122 of the total infected have recovered, and the recovery rate has reached 94.1% along with the 1,925 latest recovered.
According to the Ministry, 10,613 swab tests were conducted in the past 24 hours. Out of the total number of tests conducted on August 2, 21% were diagnosed positive and overall there were 19.3% people diagnosed positive till now.
Till now, the death toll has reached 9,898. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 23 people died on August 2. There are 31,629 in isolation. Morang, Sunsari, Jhapa, Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Chitwan, Makwanpur, Nuwakot, Nawalparasi East, Kaski, Rupandehi, and Surkhet have more than 500 active cases.
According to Dhading representative Sitaram Adhikari, the district administration office has instructed to close the school immediately after the school started operating despite the increasing cases of COVID-19 infections in the district. The district administration office has issued a notice requesting not to operate private and community schools in the district headquarters while the school teachers are also infected. The district administration office has written a letter to all the local levels stating that the operation of the school has been stopped. It has also issued strict instructions not to conduct educational activities in physical presence and has also instructed the police to strictly implement the prohibitory order. The District Administration Office has warned that the local government and the schools will be held responsible if they carry out activities that are punishable by law as the possibility of COVID-19 infection is high during the educational activities.
According to Ramechhap Representative Nawaraj Ghimire, the Ramechhap Municipality has suspended all services except the essential ones with effect from August 2 due to the increase in cases of Covid-19 infection. The municipality has issued a notice on August 2 stating that the non-essential services will be closed till August 16.
According to Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta East) representative, Tirtha Raj Dumre, the prohibitory order has been extended till August 16. As per the decision of the meeting of the District Covid 19 Management Committee on August 2, the prohibitory order issued in the district has been extended from August 5 to 16, according to a statement issued by the District Administration Office, Nawalparasi, Bardaghat Susta East.
