Update of August 19 Regarding COVID-19 Infection

The number of COVID-19 infected people reached 994,859 after 246 additional new cases on August 19, 2022. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 977,845 of the total infected have recovered, and the recovery rate has reached 98.3% along with the 487 latest recovered. There are 5,024 active infected cases at present.

According to the Ministry, 1,621 swabs were collected for PCR tests in the past 24 hours. Till now, the death toll has reached 11,990 According to the Ministry of Health and Population, no deaths were recorded. On August 19, 3,324 people were tested through the antigen process and 377 were diagnosed positive with COVID-19. Till date, 148,838 people have been diagnosed positive with the antigen method. Till August 19, 21,222,343 people have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

According to Gorkha representative Hariram Uprety, due to the COVID-19 among teachers and students, the teaching and learning of Durbar Secondary School, Arupokhari of Arughat Rural Municipality-8 has been closed for a week. Sunita Adhikari, health coordinator of the rural municipality informed that 66 people were tested for Covid-19 in Arupakhari on August 18.
