Update of August 17 Regarding COVID-19 Infection

The number of COVID-19 infected people reached 994,389 after 531 additional new cases on August 17, 2022. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 976,937 of the total infected have recovered, and the recovery rate has reached 98.2% along with the 328 latest recovered. There are 5,432 active infected cases at present.

According to the Ministry, 3,876 swabs were collected for PCR tests in the past 24 hours. Till now, the death toll has reached 11,990 According to the Ministry of Health and Population, no deaths were recorded. On August 17, 2,507 people were tested through the antigen process and 321 were diagnosed positive with COVID-19. Till date, 148,143 people have been diagnosed positive with the antigen method. Till August 17, 21,138,705 people have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

According to Myagdi Representative Amrit Prasad Paudel, Janahit Secondary School has been closed till August 22 after a student of that school was detected COVID positive. Fifty-one students were tested through the antigen method after they were shortlisted for contact tracing. Among those 51, 13 were diagnosed positive with COVID-19. These students lived in the school hostel and after falling sick, the Health Department conducted the test. As per the Senior Public Health Officer of the Health Office, there are 43 total infected in the district, among them, six are in Thasang Rural Municipality, 27 in Gharpajhong Rural Municipality, 10 in Mustang Hospital.
