Update of August 15 Regarding COVID-19 Infection

The number of COVID-19 infected people reached 993,459 after 427 additional new cases on August 15, 2022. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 976,083 of the total infected have recovered, and the recovery rate has reached 98.3% along with the 474 latest recovered. There are 5,387 active infected cases at present.

According to the Ministry, 3,155 swabs were collected for PCR tests in the past 24 hours. Till now, the death toll has reached 11,989 According to the Ministry of Health and Population, one death was recorded. On August 15, 2,582 people were tested through the antigen process and 461 were diagnosed positive with COVID-19. Till date, 147,373 people have been diagnosed positive with the antigen method. Till August 15, 20,876,075 people have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

According to Okhaldhunga Representative Saraswari Baniya, the increase in COVID-19 infection and viral fever, Likhu Rural Municipality has closed the school for four days. In a notice published by the rural municipality on August 15, they declared that the schools will be closed till August 18. They have tested 23 people on August 14 and six of them were tested positive with COVID-19.
