Update of August 12 Regarding COVID-19 Infection

The number of COVID-19 infected people has reached 725,769 after additional 2,473 new cases were detected positive in Nepal on August 12, 2021. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 677,377 of the total infected have recovered, and the recovery rate has reached 93.3% along with the 2,294 latest recovered.

According to the Ministry, 10,806 swab tests were conducted in the past 24 hours. Out of the total number of tests conducted on August 12, 23% were diagnosed positive and overall there were 19.5% people diagnosed positive till now.

Till now, the death toll has reached 10,212. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 32 people died on August 12. There are 38,180 in isolation. Morang, Sunsari, Jhapa, Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Chitwan, Makwanpur, Kavrepalanchok, Sindhupalchowk, Dolakha, Nuwakot, Nawalparasi East, Baglung, Kaski, Gorkha, Syangja, Tanahu, Rupandehi, Surkhet and Kailali have more than 500 active cases.

According to Sankhuwasabha representative Bhawin Karki, the Madi Municipality has decided to seal the municipality from August 12 to August 20 due to the increase in the infection of Covid-19. According to Madi Municipality Chief Bidur Subba Lingthep, the decision to seal the municipality was taken at a meeting on August 11. The municipality has stated that it has decided to close the municipal office with all kinds of services except the essential services provided by the municipality during the sealed period.

According to Kaski representative Sushan Ghimire, the District Administration Office, Kaski has issued a notice on August 12 and extended the prohibitory order till August 19. The administration has stated that the prohibition order issued has been continued due to the increase in the infection rate and death rate due to Covid-19. It has been said that the odd-even system has been removed from the vehicles during the ongoing prohibition order period and long-distance vehicles can be operated in coordination with the district administration office on the recommendation of the concerned organization. Similarly, the administration office has instructed the government and non-government organizations not to have any program, gathering and seminar in hotels and resorts.
