Update of August 11 Regarding COVID-19 Infection

The number of COVID-19 infected people has reached 723,296 after additional 2,616 new cases were detected positive in Nepal on August 11, 2021. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 675,086 of the total infected have recovered, and the recovery rate has reached 93.3% along with the 1,885 latest recovered.

According to the Ministry, 10,907 swab tests were conducted in the past 24 hours. Out of the total number of tests conducted on August 11, 24% were diagnosed positive and overall there were 19.4% people diagnosed positive till now.

Till now, the death toll has reached 10,180. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 32 people died on August 12. There are 38,180 in isolation. Morang, Sunsari, Jhapa, Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Chitwan, Makwanpur, Kavrepalanchok, Dolakha, Nuwakot, Nawalparasi East, Baglung, Kaski, Gorkha, Syangja, Tanahu, Rupandehi, and Surkhet have more than 500 active cases.

According to Solukhumbu representative Bhoj Raj Karki, The District Administration Office has been closed till August 17 after the staff of the district administration office was infected with COVID-19.

According to Kavre representative, Hiraman Tamang, Masks wer distributed in the District Prison’s Dulikhel Branch on August 11, 2021. The distribution was done under the ‘Where is your mask?’ campaign for the protection and control of COVID-19. The mask was distributed by an INSEC representative in collaboration with Natural Resources Conflict Reform Centre Nepal. There are 232 inmates in the prison, including 105 detainees and 127 inmates.

The Dalit settlement of Mandandeupur Municipality-4 has been sealed after 17 people were infected with Covid-19. Most of the infected people have symptoms, said Deepak Ghimire, chief of the health department of the municipality. As per the decision of the executive committee on August 10, Naulo Danda in the east, Surya Tamang’s shop in the west, Nepal tole in the north and Dol Bahadur Parajuli’s shop in the south have been sealed till August 20.

According to Gorkha representative Hariram Upreti, the Palungtar Municipality-5 has been sealed due to the increased risk of COVID-19. It is mentioned in that the ward has been sealed with effect from 10 am on August 11 for prevention and control of the infection. According to the ward office, private and public transport, the hotel trade, business, banks and financial institutions and cooperatives have been shut down based on the existing infection rate, high-risk situation and analysis of possible infection. The ward office has requested the ward residents not to go out of the house except for urgent work.

According to Lamjung representative Dal Bahadur Majakoti, a prohibitory order has been issued in the district from August 12 to 26, said Chief District Officer Hom Prasad Luitel. He said that the prohibitory order has been extended as necessary measures have to be taken after the covid infection started spreading in the district.
