Update of 9 July Regarding Corona Virus Infection
In the past 24 hours, there have been an additional 108 cases diagnosed for coronavirus infection in Nepal. According to the spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population Dr Jageshwor Gautam, in the past 24 hours 4,588 samples have been tested. With this, there are 16, 531 cases of coronavirus recorded till date and 7,891 have been discharged after recovery. The disease has killed 35 people to date. Out of the seven provinces, province 2 has the highest number of infected people.
Provincial Reports
In Province 1, additional 25 cases have been diagnosed till date and with this the number of case has reached 704. In this province, on 9 July, 13 have been discharged after recovery.
According to the District Representative of Udaypur, Bharat Khadka, on 9 July 2020, INSEC provided health equipment to the municipalities for supporting the risk reduction of corona virus infection.
In Province 2, on 9 July, additional seven cases were diagnosed. 3,768 people have been diagnosed with corona in this province till date. Till date, 2,281 have been discharged after recovery.
According to the District Representative of Dhanusha, Dipendra Prasad Singh, the relief materials sent by the provincial government to distribute among those affected by the lockdown has started decaying due to the delay caused by the chairperson of Battewor rural municipality to distribute them. These materials were provided as second round of relief but have not reached the local people yet.
According to the District Representative of Rautahat, Kopila Timilsina, police have arrested Satya Lal Sah of Chandrapur municipality-1 in accusation of selling fertilizers in an expensive rate to the farmers. He had taken these fertilizers from different cooperatives and sold them with extremely high profit margin.
In Bagmati Province, on 9 July, additional 11 people were diagnosed with coronavirus infection. With this there have been total 718 people diagnosed with the disease till date in this province and out of them 269 have been discharged after recovery. Six have lost their life due to the disease.
In Gandaki Province, additional 20 cases have been diagnosed on 9 July 2020 and now the number of infected has reached 1,149 and out of them 465 have been discharged after recovery.
In Sudur Paschim Province,
According to the District Representative of Achham, Shiva Raj Dhungana, a health worker involved in treating the corona patients of Bayalpata hospital was diagnosed with the disease. He is now kept in the isolation ward and all the services of the hospital except for the emergency service have been halted until further notice. A policeman working at the police station of district headquarter was also diagnosed with coronavirus infection after which people were stopped from entering the police station. The police officer has been kept in isolation for treatment. Till date there have been 603 cases of corona in the district out of which 92 have been discharged after recovery.
