Update of 30 April Regarding Corona Virus Infection

The Ministry of Health and Population has examined 12,011 from PCR and 46,860 from RDT. The Ministry also informed about having 57 patients of corona nationwide and 16 out of them have been cured. There are 23,336 in quarantine and 80 in isolation. There are three in insolation within Kathmandu and 77 are out of Kathmandu. Dr Jhalak Sharma from the Health Department of Children informed that the regular vaccines for the children have been resumed and requested the concerned group to visit the health organisations nearby.

Provincial Reports

In Province 1, till 30 April 1288 swabs have been collected and 5,089 RDT has been tested. The Medical Superintendents of the hospitals of Province 1 have informed lack of PPE. Since the province has increasing cases of Corona, they have asked for more PPE in all the 14 districts. The Provincial Government has started returning back the budget which could not be spent due to the lockdown. Till now, two billion seventy million has been returned back, informed the Economic Affairs and Planning Ministry. Nepal Congress of the Province 1 Assembly has demanded to stop RDT. According to them, the results of RDT were not found accurate and it can enhance infection.

In Province 2, according to the Social Development Ministry, till 30 April, four have returned back after treatment and 12 are being treated. The number of people living in home quarantine in this province is increasing. It is because; the ones living in quarantine were examined with PCR and sent to stay in home quarantine. PCR and RDT have increased in the province.

In Bagmati Province, due to lockdown, food-grains are being sold at a higher price. Shops were found selling less quantity in higher price. Therefore, the Department of Food Technology and Quality Control Office has sealed the godowns. The Makwanpur Municipality will be providing employment to those who are dependent on a daily wage. They will be provided with Rs 500 and nine kg rice. In Chitwan, 40 vehicles were found offending the lockdown and are now under legal consideration. In Lalitpur, 377 people are arrested for offending the lockdown. The labourers stuck in the forest of Changunarayan were rescued by the municipality. The ambulances mobilized in Kavre have hesitated to fit the Global Positioning System (GPS). The command post of the district has requested all the ambulances to fit the GPS. But, at present only seven ambulances have GPS in them. There are 35 ambulances in the district.

In Gandaki Province, the provincial government has introduced criteria for the traders, entrepreneurs and farmers to loosen the lockdown. This will be regulated in all 11 districts of the province. The criteria were formulated by Province Crisis Management Centre. Till 30 April, 627 swabs have been tested in this province and out of the two were found positive. The tourists stuck in Pokhara have been rescued and sent back to Kathmandu.

In Province 5, the Division Forest Office is facing problem to maintain social distancing since there is a large number of inmates which crosses their capacity. The capacity of the office is to keep six inmates whereas there are 17 inmates. After receiving the information from INSEC Rupandehi, 13 patients of spinal cord injury were provided different kinds of medicines and other materials.

In Karnali Province, the Health Science Academy and Teaching Hospital Jumla has been provided with PCR but due to lack of some necessary kits, the machine has not been functioning. Some of the extremely needy families of Aathbiskot Municipality- 1, 2 and 3 are having a difficult time due to the lockdown since there has not been any kind of relief distribution. Because of the lockdown, some targeted groups are not able to go to the banks for their social security amount; therefore, Darma rural municipality of Salyan is providing it door-to-door.

In Sudur Paschim Province, INSEC Sudur Paschim Province has handed over edibles on 30 April to the Mayor of Krishnapur Municipality-Karna Bahadur Hamal, under the KIOS Project. These food provisions are for the needy and labour-class families of the municipality. The 1,290 Nepalese stuck in Dharchula of India were rescued back to Nepal through Dattu Border on 30 April. They were in five different quarantines of Dharchula from a month. Api Himal rural municipality has decided to provide cash to those who were not rescued during the lockdown. The people staying in quarantine at Trishakti Secondary School of Budiganga Municipality have complained of getting decayed rice as their food. They informed of getting date expired rice.
