Update of 27 May Regarding Corona Virus Infection

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, there have been 114 new cases of coronavirus infection on 27 May in Nepal. With this, there are 886 cases of COVID-19 in Nepal out of which, 796 are males and 90 are females. The infection has spread in 47 districts now. Out of the total, 183 have been discharged after recovery. Out of them, 142 are males and 41 are females. According to the Ministry, Province 1 has seven, Province 2 has eight, Bagmati Province has 11, Gandaki Province has four, Province 5 has eight, Karnali Province has three, and Sudur Paschim Province has five infected districts.

Provincial Reports

In Province 1, there have been 104 coronavirus patients in the province. On 27 May 2020, additional 17 cases were diagnosed. The cases were:- 15 from Jhapa Kachankawal rural municipality and two from Gauradaha Municipality. The infected ones from Kachankawal rural municipality belong to the age group 19 to 57 and the infected ones from Gauradaha Municipality are 26 years old and 41 years old. With this there are 48 cases in Jhapa Kachankawal rural municipality. In this province, following is the number of cases according to district:

  1. Jhapa: 54
  2. Udaypur: 33
  3. Dhankuta: 7
  4. Morang: 5
  5. Sunsari: 3
  6. Khotang: 1
  7. Bhojpur: 1

There has been additional 4 discharge case in the province with which number of discharged reached 30. Out of them, 27 are from Udaypur, two from Jhapa and one from Bhojpur.

In Province 2, on 27 May 47 new cases have been diagnosed out of which, two were in Siraha, two were in Saptari, 35 were in Rautahat, eight were in Bara. After the locals started protesting, eight of the newly added people returned from India and kept in the quarantine of Kamala municipality-9 Dhanusha were shifted. The District Administrative Office of Rautahat has declared Ishnath and Rajpur Municipality as prohibited zone.

In Bagmati Province, there has been 24,864 RDT till 27 May 2020 out of which 465 had positive antibody. There has been 8,623 PCR tests out of which 40 were infected. From that 40, 28 are being treated in isolation, 11 have been discharged and one has died.

In Gandaki Province, more than 1600 have been rescued from Indian Border from three different border entrances, informed DIG Ghanshyam Aryal.

In Province 5, till now 38 of them have recovered. Because of the virus, there have been total two deaths till now. Three news cases were diagnosed in Rukum East and 16 in Dang on 27 May. There are 364 coronavirus infected people in Province 5 till date. A 55-year-old man staying in the quarantine of Babai Multiple Campus died on 27 May after which his swab has been sent for test. Two men of age 19 and 29 were detected corona three days ago but were not taken to isolation. They are still in quarantine.

In Karnali Province, on 27 May, the people living in the quarantine built in the Khulamanch of Birendranagar Municipality Surkhet PCR were conducted and 15 were tested positive. These people were, six from Birendranagar Municipality-4, ward-3 had one, ward-5 had one, ward-9 had one, ward-11 had one and Chaukune Rural Municipality had three, Bajhang district had one and one from unknown address. Thirty from Surkhet and eight from Dailekh were detected positive. They are being treated at Provincial Hospital’s isolation.

In Sudur Paschim Province, a 55-year-old man who has just returned from India and was staying in the isolation of Seti Provincial hospital died on 27 May 2020 after which his swab has been taken for PCR test. Also, the ward chairperson of Krishnanagar municipality-7, Kallu Rana lost his life while arranging the quarantine. His swab has also been taken for test.
