Update of 26 July Regarding Corona Virus Infection
On 26 July 2020, additional 130 cases were diagnosed with which there are now 18,613 corona virus infected people in Nepal. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 13,128 have been discharged after recovery. On 26 July, 75 were discharged. At present, there are 5,440 people being treated in different hospitals nationwide. Out of the total infected, 70.5% have recovered. Till 26 July, the death toll has reached 46. According to the Ministry, 3,300 swabs were tested.

In Province 1,
According to the District Representative of Morang, Netra Prasad Adhikari, stating that the corona virus infection could spread at the community level, the Biratnagar Metropolitan City has decided to shut down services other than essential ones on 25 July. The meeting of the high-level coordination committee held in the metropolis has also formed a monitoring task force to prevent and control the spread of corona at the community level. Mayor of the Biratnagar Metropolitan, Bhim Parajuli, said that the city has decided to stop general services for some time except emergency services as the rate of infection is high due to overcrowding in the office.

According to the District Representative of Rautahat, Kopila Timalsina, corona infection has been confirmed in the 55-year-old ward chairperson in Rautahat. Health worker Subodh Sah informed that the infection was confirmed on 26 July when he underwent PCR test in Hetauda for treatment of heart and diabetes. According to Sah, he had been suffering from high sugar level and heart problems recently. The ward chairperson’s wife was electrocuted on 26 July. After his wife’s death, about 300 people went to the funeral. Stating that those who came in direct contact with the ward chairperson and his wife were told to stay in the home quarantine, the mayor of the municipality informed that the work of collecting the information of all and contact tracing has already started.

Corona infection has been found at the community level in Banke after the government removed the lockdown. A laboratory test conducted at Bheri Hospital on 26 July found corona positive in two people in Nepalgunj and one in Jumla, confirming the spread of corona infection at the community level.
According to the District Representative of Banke, Smriti Devkota, the Internal Revenue Office has been closed on 26 July after a 33-year-old employee of Nepalgunj Sub-metropolitan-16 working there was confirmed with corona virus infection. The Internal Revenue Office has issued a notice on July 26 stating that all the services provided by the office have been suspended due to the risk of infection as all the employees of the office are undergoing PCR test.
