Update of 25 May Regarding Corona Virus Infection
In Nepal, fourth case of death has been recorded due to coronavirus infection whereas 111 people have been discharged after recovery. There are 682 people infected with the virus. On 25 May 2020, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli addressed the public. In the addressing speech he said, ‘even before there were medicines and hospitals, the human civilization faced and fought against pandemic, therefore we may fall down but will rise again and this time we will be stronger.’ Prime Minister Oli has advised everyone to eat healthy and follow stay positive.
Provincial Reports
In Province 1, there has been rapid PCR testing. There have been 715 swab collections on 25 May. Till date there has been 5,242 swabs collected out of which 87 were positive. There are still 444 swabs results pending, informed the Chief Minister and the cabinet of Ministers.
In Province 2, there are three additional cases in Dhanusha, 23 in Bara, 26 in Rautahat and two in Saptari. There has been 8,614 swabs collected till date 233 reports were positive. There are 1,953 reports pending. The PCR machine bought by the provincial government has started functioning in Janakpur from 25 May. The PCR machine being previously used in Janakpur did not give accurate results because of which it was replaced. This is the third time that the machine has started examining. This machine gives 96 reports in 4 hours. In a day, 275 swabs will be tested. The machine will be used thrice a day.
In Bagmati Province, the corona isolation ward of Hetauda Sub-metropolitan is now full with patients and corona suspects. After forty people retuning from India were admitted, the ward is jam-packed, informed coordinator Bhola Prasad Chaulagai. The District Administration Office of Kavre has written to the Ministry of Health and Population to correct their mistake regarding the corona update in Kavre. According to the CDO of Kavre, Shrawan Kumar Timilsina, there has not been a single case of coronavirus registered in Kavre yet but in the Ministry’s report published on 14 May, there was a case mentioned.
In Gandaki Province, there have been 2,044 swabs tested till date out of which 2,011 were negative and 29 were pending. There have been five cases registered in the province. There has been 7,701 RDT conducted till date.
In Province 5, till date, there have been 16,215 RDT conducted and there are 20,463 people staying in quarantine. There are 256 people in isolation and 34 have been discharged after recovery. Two of them have died due to the infection. There are 292 cases in seven districts of the province. After Bardiya’s Hospital diagnosed an 18-year-old with the infection, all the services except for emergency services have been halted for a while. A man staying in the quarantine of Shambhusharan Secondary School’s quarantine had his health worsening after which he was moved to the isolation ward of Bardiya Hospital. Two of the coronavirus infected from Nawalparasi West Ramgram, were finally taken to the isolation ward after three days.
In Karnali Province, there have been two more cases detected in the Province. A 24-year-old man returning from India and originally from Gurans Rural Municipality and a 25-year-old man from the same Rural Municipality were diagnosed. There are eight cases of the infection in Dailekh district. Six swabs have been collected and sent for test from Salyan.
In Sudur Paschim Province, the provincial government has handed over Dhangadi’s 50 bedded corona special hospital to Seti Provincial Hospital. Likewise, the federal government has sent RDT Kit and VTM and other health equipment through Nepal Army’s Sky Truck. After the border was opened, around 1000 Nepalese have entered. Also, in Kanchanpur the District Administrative Office has closed all the services except medical services until further notice.
