Update of 25 June Regarding Corona Virus Infection
On 25 June 2020, there are 11,162 people suffering from corona virus infection in Nepal. Till the afternoon of 25 June, 2,650 people have been discharged after recovery and 8,486 are being treated. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 26 have died due to the disease. There are 325 children below the age of 10, suffering from corona virus infection.
Provincial Reports
In Province 1, on 25 June additional seven cases were diagnosed and with this there are 503 infected people in the country. On 25 June, 70 people were discharged after recovery. With this there are 355 people discharged till date.
In Province 2, on 25 June additional 16 cases were diagnosed and with this there are 3,216 infected people. In this province, 1,267 people have been discharged after recovery. According to the District Representative of Dhanusha, Dipendra Prasad Singh, a case has been filed at High Court of Janakpur, Rajbiraj’s bench against the government of province two on 24 June by Gumasta Kumar Yadav of Siraha’s Sukhipur municipality-3 as their quarantines established by the local government does not fulfil the criteria of the government of Nepal. He has filed the case against seven local levels including the office of Chief Minister and Cabinet of Ministers of Province 2, District Administration Office of Siraha and District Administration Office, Saptari. The opposition local levels are Sukhippur Municipality of Siraha, Lahan Municipality, Dhangadimai Municipality, Bariyarpatti rural municipality and Nabarajpur rural municipality. Likewise, a three members’ investigation committee has been formed by Social Development Ministry on 25 June to investigate on the death of Raju Sada (15) who died on 22 June in the isolation ward of Provincial Hospital of Janakpurdham. The committee will publish a report within seven days with facts. The committee has Dr Harish Chandra Shah, Dr Nawal Kishore Jha and Dilip Kumar Pradhan from the ministry.
In Bagmati Province, on 25 June there were additional four cases detected with which there are 337 new cases in the province and 91 have been discharged after recovery and four have died.
In Gandaki Province, additional 14 cases were diagnosed on 25 June and one has died. There are 767 infected people in this province. According to the District Representative of Kaski, Sushan Ghilire, there was a clash between the police and locals at Majhuwa on the issue of dead body management of those who have died due to COVID-19. The locals had attacked the police with stones while they were digging the grave. Eight rounds of air firing was done to control the chaos, informed DSP Subash Hamal. The locals had sabotaged two bikes, one scooter, and one van of the armed police. A 55-year-old man diagnosed with corona virus on 22 June had died at the ICU of Pokhara Health Science Academy on 24 June.
In Province 5, according to the District Representative of Yagya Murti Timilsina, there is scarcity of isolation beds at Nisdi rural municipality and Purbakhola rural municipality which has caused problem to accommodate corona patients. Lumbini Medical College of Tansen had agreed on accommodating 30 patients but due to increase in the number of patients, problems of improper management has increased. There are 150 infected people at Purbakhola rural municipality and with the increase in their number, safety is being hindered.
In Karnali Province, according to the District Representative of Jumla, Man Datta Rawal, a health worker of Karnali Health Science Academy has been diagnosed with corona virus on 24 June. Contact tracing has started and prohibition is implementation in the area. The hospital’s four health workers and one other person was found infected so to stop the community spread, measures were taken.
According to the District Representative of Salyan, Meena Budathoki, after a health worker of the district hospital was found infected with the disease, all the other services accept emergency service was stopped. To reassure the health stability of other staffs, 76 additional swabs were collected.
According to the District Representative of Dailekh, Amar Sunar, a 21-year-old man of Dullu municipality-10 who had committed suicide on 24 June at his residence, was tested positive with corona. He had returned from quarantine just few days ago. Along with that man, additional 25 corona positive cases were diagnosed. Till date, three people have died due to corona in Dailekh.
