Update of 20 May Regarding Corona Virus Infection
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 25 new cases have been diagnosed on 20 May 2020 which makes it 427 new cases till date in Nepal. Following are the districts with new cases:
- Dhankuta: 5
- Banke: 6
- Kapilbastu: 13
- Nawalparasi West: 1
Among them 358 are males and 69 are females. The infection has spread in 38 districts of the country. Eight of them being treated at the Koshi Hospital have recovered on 20 May. According to the Health Ministry, one of a person being treated at Crimson Hospital of Tilotma, Kapilbastu has not died and is being treated in ventilator.
Provincial Reports:
In Province 1, there are 66 coronavirus infected people in this province. On 20 May, seven cases were added and out of them 26 have been discharged. Following is the number discharged people according to the districts:
- Udaypur: 23
- Jhapa: 2
- Bhojpur: 1

District Hospital of Dhankuta which was closed until further notice after one of its health worker was diagnosed with corona virus, will soon be resuming its services.
In Province 2, till date, there are 137 coronavirus infected people. Following is the number of infected people according to the districts:
- Saptari: 1
- Siraha: 1
- Dhanusha: 8
- Mahottari: 4
- Sarlahi: 5
- Rautahat: 22
- Bara: 5
- Parsa: 91
Out of them, two have been discharged after recovery.

In Bagmati Province,

There are 295 people staying in quarantine and 66 are in isolation. According to Durgadatta Chapagain, Chief of the District Health Office, the quarantines built in different parts of Sindhupalchowk district do not meet the criterias of a proper quarantine. He told this after monitoring the quarantines. A 32-year-old man from Kathmandu’s Gokarneshwor Municipality-4 Kisigal was diagnosed positive with corona virus. Immediately after the diagnosis, the area has been sealed and contact tracing has started.
In Gandaki Province,

Citizen’s Society Network Pokhara has demanded to bring back all the Nepalese stuck in the borders of India and other countries and have also demanded for their PCR test before sending them back to their local levels.
In Province 5, the 41-year-old teacher of Gulmi District’s Madane Rural Municipality-6 being treated at Crimson hospital is still in the ICU, informed the hospital. He was admitted in the hospital after he had fever and cough on 14 May 2020. The hospital had released a statement informing about his health status while the media spread rumours of his death.

Likewise, the focal person of the Lumbini Provincial Hospital Butwal Dr Sudarshan Thapa has informed of having 36 coronavirus infected people in the corona specialized hospital of Butwal.
In Karnali Province, Birendranagar Municipality has prepared two new shelters to keep the coronavirus suspects on 18 May 2020. These two places are- Tripureshwor Secondary School and Janauccha Secondary School. In Jumla district people are denying to stay in the quarantine due to the lack of security and they leave before completing 14 days in the quarantine. Therefore, Nepal Army has taken the responsibility of their security and they are now kept in the District wise United Quarantine.
In Sudurpaschim Province, the person resulting positive in the RDT and being treated in isolation at Doti District hospital has been discharged on 19 May, after his PCR resulted negative. In coordination with the District Administration Office and Bhimdatta Municipality, 195 people have been rescued and brought back from the Nepal-India border on 19 May. They are kept in the quarantine of Bhimdatta Municipality-4, Baijanath Secondary School’s quarantine. In suspect of coronavirus infection, 12 swabs have been collected from Turmakhad Rural Municipality-1 Rahaf quarantine and 14 swabs have been collected from Bannigadi, Jayagad Rural Municipality and Bayalpata hospital.
